Noksan Medical Training School was established to train patients and nurture them to assist medical professionals due to the lack of medical staff in Sorokdo, which was a system unique to Sorokdo. Artifacts of Noksan Medical Training School are a stethoscope, an anatomy textbook, and two certificates of competition. The stethoscope was supplied to the patient, who was one of the first graduates. The anatomy textbook and certificates of completion give an idea of the training school. Since the school taught medical knowledge to the patients, those who completed the course where trusted not to discriminate or ignore other patients in the treatment process. Therefore, the artifacts of Noksan Medical Training School have significant value in terms of history and medical service in that they reflect the unprecedented medical training system unique to Sorokdo and the self-supporting efforts to overcome the shortage of medical assistants through training |
